Likely clothing size
Baby clothing size chart by age, height and weight
Most baby clothing is labelled by age, but the height and weight ranges below are what those labels are really based on. If your baby sits between two sizes, go up, especially for sleepsuits and anything with feet.
| Size | Age (months) | Height | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| Newborn (NB) | 0 | up to 50 cm | 2.5 to 3.5 kg |
| 0 to 3 months | 0-3 | 50 to 56 cm | 3.5 to 5 kg |
| 3 to 6 months | 3-6 | 56 to 62 cm | 5 to 7 kg |
| 6 to 9 months | 6-9 | 62 to 68 cm | 7 to 8.5 kg |
| 9 to 12 months | 9-12 | 68 to 74 cm | 8.5 to 10 kg |
| 12 to 18 months | 12-18 | 74 to 80 cm | 10 to 11.5 kg |
| 18 to 24 months | 18-24 | 80 to 86 cm | 11.5 to 13 kg |
| 2T (2 years+) | 24+ | 86 to 92 cm | 13 to 14.5 kg |
A general guide. International brands (US, EU, UK and Japanese) all size slightly differently, so always check the brand's own chart.
Tips for buying baby clothes in Singapore
- In our warm climate, light cotton and short sleeves work for most of the year; a thin layer is enough for air-conditioned malls.
- Buy a size up for longevity, babies grow through newborn size quickly.
- Choose easy nappy-change designs (envelope necks, snaps along the legs).
