Chinese Gender Predictor (Just for Fun)

Curious what the old Chinese gender chart says? Pop in your birth year and the month you conceived for a bit of pregnancy fun. Remember, it is folklore, not science.

Just for fun. The Chinese gender chart is a centuries-old novelty with no scientific basis. It cannot actually predict your baby's sex. Only an ultrasound or medical test can do that. Enjoy it as a bit of pregnancy fun.
The chart uses lunar age and lunar month, so this is an approximation.

The chart says

Your lunar age

For real answers, your sonographer can usually tell at the anatomy scan around 18 to 22 weeks. See our guide to prenatal checkups and scans.

What is the Chinese gender chart?

The Chinese gender prediction chart is a traditional novelty that supposedly links a mother's lunar age and the lunar month of conception to whether she is carrying a boy or girl. It is fun to try, especially at a gender reveal, but it is folklore, not science. A baby's sex is determined by chromosomes at conception, and the only reliable ways to know are an ultrasound scan or a medical test such as NIPT.

Why lunar age and month are approximate here

Traditional Chinese age counts a baby as one year old at birth and adds a year at Lunar New Year, so it can be one to two years more than your Western age. The lunar calendar months also differ from the Gregorian calendar. This tool makes a simple estimate, so treat the result as light-hearted fun.

This tool is for entertainment only. It does not predict, diagnose or confirm your baby's sex and is not medical advice. For accurate information, speak to your doctor.
