Your payout dates
Here's when each cash payment should land, based on the date you entered.
| When | What | Amount |
|---|
Cash Gift dates follow the official schedule (at birth, then every 6 months). The first payment lands 7 to 10 working days after you open the bank account. From April 2027 money goes to the bank account linked to your child's PayNow (NRIC or birth cert number), so set that up early.
How the new SG Child Support Package works
Under the old Baby Bonus a third child got more than a first child, but the new package treats every Singapore citizen child the same, whatever the birth order. Here's the full list for a baby born from 1 April 2027:
| Benefit | Amount | When and where |
|---|---|---|
| Baby Gift (cash) | $10,000 | 2 payments within 12 months of birth |
| Child Credits (cash) | $2,000 a year, $32,000 total | Every year from the year your child turns 1 to the year they turn 16 |
| CDA First Step Grant | $5,000 | Into the CDA once it's opened, no savings needed |
| CDA co-matching | Up to $5,000 | $1 for every $1 you save. CDA stays open until the end of the year your child turns 16 |
| MediSave Grant for Newborns | $5,000 ($4,000 if born before 1 Apr 2025) | Into your baby's MediSave |
| PSEA top-up | $10,000 | In the year your child turns 17 |

If your baby is born before 1 April 2027
You're in the switch-over group. Your baby still joins the Baby Bonus Scheme first. Cash Gift payments run as normal until 31 March 2027. Then, by 30 April 2027, you get a top-up that brings your total cash up to $10,000. After that your child moves to the new package and gets Child Credits.
The CDA First Step Grant stays at the old amount: $5,000 for a 1st or 2nd child, $10,000 for a 3rd or later child born from 18 Feb 2025. Your old CDA matching cap holds until 30 September 2027. From 1 October 2027 every cap becomes $5,000. So if your cap is higher than $5,000, save up to it before that date.
| Birth order | Old Cash Gift total | First Step Grant | Old matching cap (until 30 Sep 2027) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st child | $11,000 | $5,000 | $4,000 (goes up to $5,000) |
| 2nd child | $11,000 | $5,000 | $7,000 |
| 3rd and 4th child | $13,000 | $10,000 | $9,000 |
| 5th child and later | $13,000 | $10,000 | $15,000 |

Worked examples
1st child, due 1 December 2026. The $3,000 at-birth Cash Gift lands in December. The next payment would be due in June 2027, after the switch, so it never comes. Instead you get a $7,000 top-up by 30 April 2027. That's $10,000 cash.
Your child turns 1 in 2027 and 16 in 2042. That's 16 years of Child Credits, or $32,000. Add the $5,000 First Step Grant, up to $5,000 of CDA matching, the $5,000 MediSave grant and the $10,000 PSEA top-up. Total: $67,000.
3rd child, born 1 March 2025. Cash Gift payments land at birth ($4,000), 6 months ($2,000), 12 months ($2,000), 18 months ($1,000) and 2 years ($400, on 1 March 2027). That's $9,400 before the switch, so the top-up is $600.
Then add $32,000 of Child Credits, the $10,000 First Step Grant, up to $9,000 of CDA matching (save it by 30 Sep 2027), $4,000 MediSave (the grant rose to $5,000 for babies born from 1 April 2025), the $5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant, $1,000 of Large Family LifeSG Credits paid in April 2026, and $10,000 PSEA. Total: $81,000.
How to claim
- Register the birth on LifeSG. If your baby is born here and is a citizen, the Baby Bonus sign-up is part of birth registration. You pick a bank (POSB/DBS, OCBC or UOB).
- Open the CDA and Child Savings Account. You'll get an email and a LifeSG inbox message. Finish it in your bank's app. The First Step Grant lands about 2 weeks later.
- Set up your child's PayNow. From April 2027, the Baby Gift and Child Credits go to the account linked to your child's NRIC or birth cert number, so link it to the Child Savings Account (or another account in the child's name) and never to the CDA.
- Nothing else to apply for. Children already in the Baby Bonus Scheme move to the new package automatically.

Questions parents ask
How much is the Baby Bonus in 2026?
For a baby born before 1 April 2027, the Baby Bonus Cash Gift is still paid until 31 March 2027, then topped up so your total cash is $10,000. The old full amounts were $11,000 for a 1st or 2nd child and $13,000 for a 3rd child or later. On top of that come Child Credits of $2,000 a year from age 1 to 16.
Is the Baby Bonus being replaced?
Yes. At the National Day Rally on 23 August 2026 the government announced the SG Child Support Package. It replaces the Baby Bonus Scheme and the Large Families Scheme. Payouts start from April 2027, and children already on Baby Bonus move over automatically.
Do I lose money if my baby was born in 2025 or 2026?
Your total Cash Gift becomes $10,000 instead of $11,000 or $13,000. But your child also gets $2,000 of Child Credits every year from age 1 to 16, which is $32,000, plus a $10,000 PSEA top-up at 17. So the total support is much higher than before.
When is the Baby Bonus Cash Gift paid?
Under the current schedule it comes at birth, at 6, 12 and 18 months, and then as $400 every 6 months. Your first payment lands 7 to 10 working days after you open the bank account. These payments stop after 31 March 2027, when the top-up and Child Credits take over.
What are Child Credits?
Cash of $2,000 a year for every Singapore citizen child, from the year they turn 1 to the year they turn 16. The 2026 credit is paid by 30 April 2027, and from 2028 it arrives on your child's birthday. It goes to the bank account linked to your child's PayNow and does not expire.
Does a 3rd child still get more?
For babies born from 1 April 2027, no. Every child gets the same package. If your 3rd or later child was born from 18 Feb 2025 to 31 March 2027, they keep the $10,000 CDA First Step Grant and the $5,000 Large Family MediSave Grant. Large Family LifeSG Credits stop, with no payment in 2027.
Do unmarried parents get it?
The Baby Bonus Scheme needs the parents to be married, but the new SG Child Support Package covers every Singapore citizen child whatever the parents' marital status. MSF says children born from 1 January 2026 get the Baby Gift and later the Child Credits.
Can I spend the cash on anything?
Yes. The Cash Gift, Baby Gift and Child Credits are cash, so you choose how to use them. CDA money is different. It can only be paid to approved places like preschools, clinics and hospitals, and you can't withdraw it.
What if my baby is not a citizen at birth?
The Baby Bonus amounts are pro-rated if your child becomes a citizen later. For the large family grants, you only get the full amount if at least one parent was a citizen when the baby was born. If that's you, ring the Baby Bonus hotline on 1800 111 2222 and they'll check your case.
