Toy library in Singapore: where you can still borrow or rent toys in 2026, what it costs, and when renting beats buying
In this article
A toy library in Singapore is now hard to find. When we checked in October 2026, the two best-known community toy libraries, AWWA's and the Metropolitan YMCA's, had taken their pages down, and most toy rental shops listed in older guides had closed. That leaves two options. Play.Able, run by Be Kind SG, holds open play sessions with its toys at Enabling Village in Bukit Merah for S$8 per 1.5-hour session (S$5 for members), with membership aimed at families of children with special needs. The Toy Rental Club in Tampines rents baby and toddler toys by the month, for example S$51.50 a month for a Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo, with a S$50 refundable deposit. For a big toy your baby will use for two or three months, renting can cost about the same as buying, so do the sums first.

Open play with Play.Able at Enabling Village
Play.Able started as a toy lending library for children with special needs. Be Kind SG says its pilot at Rainbow Centre lent "over 300 toys, resources, and interactive books" to more than 60 families until December 2023, then moved to Queenstown Public Library until October 2025. It is now at Enabling Village, 20 Lengkok Bahru, #01-11 Canopy Block.
- Open to all on Tuesdays and Thursdays; Fridays are for members.
- Sessions run 9.30am to 11am, 1.30pm to 3pm and 3.30pm to 5pm.
- A 1.5-hour open play session costs S$8, or S$5 for members. Be Kind SG strongly encourages booking ahead.
- Membership is for families with children over 2 who are in or waiting for an Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) or in an MOE special education school, and includes inclusive activities, outings and workshops.
The current page describes play sessions, not take-home loans, so ask Be Kind SG whether lending has restarted. If your child is in early intervention, the EIPIC centre is also worth asking: AWWA's Early Intervention Centre in Fernvale, for example, has built its own collection of adapted switch toys for the children it serves.
The Toy Rental Club: monthly rental
The Toy Rental Club rents toys and baby gear "for kids, from newborns - 6 years old", from a unit in Tampines Industrial Park A, about 500m from Tampines West MRT. The terms, from its own site:
| Item | Monthly rent |
|---|---|
| Evenflo Exersaucer Mega Circus | S$50.00 |
| Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo | S$51.50 |
| Evenflo Exersaucer Triple Fun Active Learning Centre | S$68.50 |
| Little Tikes Activity Garden Playset | S$41.50 |
| LeapFrog Learn and Groove musical table | S$25.00 |
- A rental month is 30 days from the day you collect or receive the item, not the calendar month.
- You pay a S$50 refundable deposit.
- Delivery costs S$30 each way, so S$60 for delivery and pickup; weekday delivery is free for a one-month rental of S$90 or more.
- You can self-collect and return by appointment, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 1pm and 2pm to 4.30pm.
- It washes toys in hot water with antibacterial soap.
- Cancelling within 7 days of the start date costs the full rental.
Rent or buy? A worked example
Big pieces of baby gear, such as jumperoos and exersaucers, get a few months of use before your baby walks. The table compares renting and buying a jumperoo at prices we read on 11 October 2026.
| Rent (The Toy Rental Club) | Buy new (Kiddy Palace) | |
|---|---|---|
| Item | Fisher-Price Rainforest Jumperoo | Fisher-Price Colorful Corners Jumperoo |
| 1 month | S$51.50 | S$175.90 sale price (usual S$219.90) |
| 2 months | S$103.00 | S$175.90 |
| 3 months | S$154.50 | S$175.90 |
| 4 months | S$206.00 | S$175.90 |
| Extras | Refundable S$50 deposit; S$60 delivery and pickup, or self-collect | Nothing back unless you resell |
So renting wins if your baby will use it for two months or less, it's roughly even at three, and buying wins after that, especially if you sell it on or keep it for a second child. Renting also saves the storage space in an HDB flat. The two jumperoos are different models, so compare features as well as price.
Other ways to save on toys babies outgrow
- Preloved is the biggest saving: our guide to where to buy toys in Singapore covers preloved groups and shops, and baby fairs in Singapore list when the big sales are.
- Rotating what you have costs nothing: put half the toys away and swap them every few weeks, and a returning toy feels new to a baby.
- Family and friends with older children often have toys to lend, so pass yours on when you're done.
- Free play spaces such as libraries and playgrounds give your child new things to play with at no cost; our children's libraries guide lists the best for young kids.
- Simple, open-ended toys go further; our guide to newborn toys and games by age shows how little a baby needs.
Before you rent or borrow, check each toy's age label and condition, and wash anything a baby will mouth.
