How to save money on diapers in Singapore
In this article
You save money on diapers by comparing what one diaper costs. The pack price hides it. On 6 Nov 2026, size M taped packs on FairPrice's website worked out at anywhere from 26 to 44 cents a diaper, so at 8 a day the gap comes to $43.20 over 30 days. Your Baby Bonus Cash Gift can pay for diapers, but your CDA can't.
How to save money on diapers, step by step
- Count what your baby uses. Pampers' size chart puts a newborn at up to 10 diapers a day and a baby in its size 5 at up to 6. Our diaper size calculator gives a count for your baby's weight.
- Work out the price of one diaper by dividing the pack price by the number inside, so $28.17 for 64 diapers is 44 cents each.
- Compare packs of the same size and type. On FairPrice's website on 6 Nov 2026, size M taped packs ran from $14.24 for 54 (26 cents each) up to $28.17 for 64 (44 cents each).
- Check a carton against single packs. In the same listings, a size M carton of 4 x 60 had a usual price of $79.60, which is exactly 4 packs at $19.90. Only a dated offer made the box cheaper.
- Buy the newborn size in small packs. The same chart estimates about 1.6 months in newborn size and says a baby may skip a size.
- Size up when the fit tells you to. The chart lists frequent leaks and tight tabs as signs, and warns that sizing up too soon can cause leaks as well.
- Change every soiled diaper. HealthHub says to change diapers whenever they're soiled to prevent skin irritation, so the saving has to come from the price.
- Pay from the Baby Bonus Cash Gift. LifeSG says the Cash Gift helps with early childhood expenses, while CDA money only works at Approved Institutions.
- Spend CDC supermarket vouchers in the shop, because the CDC Vouchers site says they can't be used online. The January 2026 tranche runs out on 31 December 2026.
What diapers cost a month, size by size
This table takes the most diapers a day on Pampers' size chart and multiplies by 30 days. The three prices are size M packs from FairPrice's website on 6 Nov 2026: two taped packs at 26 and 44 cents, and a pants pack at $27.45 for 52, which is 53 cents. They're examples from one shop on one date, so swap in your own unit price.
| Size on the chart | Diapers, up to | 30 days at 26, 44 or 53 cents each |
|---|---|---|
| Newborn | 10 a day, 300 a month | $78.00, $132.00 or $159.00 |
| Size 1 | 9 a day, 270 a month | $70.20, $118.80 or $143.10 |
| Size 2 | 8 a day, 240 a month | $62.40, $105.60 or $127.20 |
| Sizes 3 and 4 | 7 a day, 210 a month | $54.60, $92.40 or $111.30 |
| Sizes 5 to 7 | 6 a day, 180 a month | $46.80, $79.20 or $95.40 |
The chart says the count varies from baby to baby, and younger babies may need changing more often. Its sizes go by its own numbers; packs here print a kg range instead, such as size M at 6 to 11kg. The baby cost estimator puts diapers beside the rest of the first year.
The sums show where the money goes. Moving from 44 to 26 cents at 8 a day saves $43.20 a month, with the same number of changes.
Which money can pay for diapers
The cash payments in this table can go on diapers, while CDA money can't. Each line comes from the agency's own page.
| Money | Can it pay for diapers? |
|---|---|
| Baby Bonus Cash Gift | Yes. LifeSG pays it into the Child Savings Account for early childhood expenses. |
| Baby Gift, born on or after 1 April 2027 | Yes. LifeSG says it's $10,000 in cash, in 2 payments within 12 months of birth. |
| Child Credits | Yes. $2,000 a year from April 2027, paid to the bank account linked to your child's PayNow ID. |
| CDA | No. Approved Institutions only, and LifeSG lists diapers as excluded. |
| CDC supermarket vouchers | Yes, in store at participating supermarkets. Not online. |
Which cash rule you get depends on your baby's birth date. Born before 1 April 2027: LifeSG says Cash Gift payments carry on until 31 March 2027. A top-up by 30 April 2027 then brings the total to $10,000 where it applies. Born on or after 1 April 2027: you get the $10,000 Baby Gift. The Baby Bonus calculator shows your child's amounts, and our Baby Bonus guide covers the full scheme.
For the CDA, LifeSG says the money can only be used at Approved Institutions, for expenses like preschool fees and medical bills. Its list for childminding operators excludes diapers by name. MSF also stopped CDA use at retail pharmacies from 1 January 2026. Our CDA guide explains what it does cover.
For CDC vouchers, the June 2026 tranche has $250 for participating supermarkets, to claim and spend by 31 December 2027. Look for the yellow CDC Supermarket Voucher decal at the shop. Our CDC vouchers guide shows how to claim and pay with them.
Size up at the right time
The size chart goes by weight and tells you to check the fit as well. Two fingers should fit under each leg opening. Large gaps at the legs can mean the diaper is too big, even if the waist feels snug.
Move up when the diaper leaves red marks or leaks even when it's on right. SingHealth says tight diapers can rub the folds of the groin, and lists that as one cause of diaper rash. Each leak also uses up another diaper.
Hold off on stocking up on the next size. The chart notes that babies can move through sizes quickly or skip one, so a big box can outlast the fit. Check your baby's weight in our diaper size calculator before you buy. If a rash starts, our diaper rash guide covers home care.
Pants, cloth and the rest of the baby budget
Pants cost more per diaper in this sample: 53 cents for size M pants against 26 to 44 cents for size M taped. If you use both, taped ones at home keep your average down.
Cloth diapers change the sums again, with more upfront and the washing after. Our cloth diapers guide works out that cost, so it isn't repeated here.
Diapers are one line in the first-year plan. Budgeting for a baby covers the others, and our free baby gifts guide shows what you can claim at no cost. For a day out, the diaper bag checklist lists what to pack. For the whole household, see how to save money as a family.
When to get help
- Money for basics is short: call MSF's ComCare Hotline on 1800 222 0000. MSF also says families who need financial support can approach a Social Service Office. Financial help for families lists the schemes.
- A Baby Bonus or SG Child Support Package payment hasn't arrived: LifeSG's hotline is 1800 111 2222.
- You haven't claimed your CDC vouchers yet: the CDC Vouchers site says to claim them at go.gov.sg/cdcv.
- A diaper rash isn't clearing: SingHealth says to book the KKH Paediatric Dermatology Clinic if rashes don't improve after a few weeks.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I find cheap diapers in Singapore?
Work out the price per diaper and compare that. On FairPrice's website on 6 Nov 2026, size M taped packs ran from 26 to 44 cents a diaper. We don't rank brands, so check any shop's listing the same way. CDC supermarket vouchers work in store at participating supermarkets.
How many diapers does a baby use a day?
Pampers' size chart says a newborn may use up to 10 a day. By its size 5 the figure is up to 6, and the chart adds that the number varies by baby. Our diaper size calculator gives a count by weight.
What is the diaper cost per month in Singapore?
Multiply diapers a day by 30, then by the price of one diaper. At 8 a day and 44 cents, that's 240 x $0.44 = $105.60, and at 26 cents it's 240 x $0.26 = $62.40. The table above runs the sums for every size.
Can I use Baby Bonus or CDA for diapers?
The Baby Bonus Cash Gift, yes: LifeSG pays it into the Child Savings Account for early childhood expenses. The CDA, no: it only pays Approved Institutions, and LifeSG lists diapers as excluded. Babies born on or after 1 April 2027 get the $10,000 Baby Gift in cash instead.
When to size up diapers?
The same size chart says frequent leaks or tight tabs mean it's time for the next size, and it sizes babies by weight. Sizing up too soon can cause leaks too, so check that two fingers fit under each leg opening.
