Questions parents ask

What do I really need before the baby arrives?

HealthHub's list is short: a safe place to sleep with a firm mattress, nappies, a few clothes, toiletries, towels, a wash basin and a car seat for the ride home. Most other things can wait until you know what your baby needs.

Do I need a car seat if I take a taxi home?

The seat belt rules exempt taxis when the child sits in the back seat. Private cars and private-hire cars are not exempt: anyone under 1.35m needs an approved child restraint.
