For a baby born before 1 April 2027, you enrol in the Baby Bonus Scheme. You get the Baby Bonus Cash Gift in instalments until 31 March 2027, then a top-up by 30 April 2027 that brings your total cash up to $10,000 where it applies. Your child also gets a Child Development Account (CDA) with a First Step Grant ($5,000 for the 1st and 2nd child, and $10,000 for the 3rd and subsequent child born on or after 18 February 2025), dollar-for-dollar co-matching of your savings (up to $4,000 for the 1st child, $7,000 for the 2nd, $9,000 for the 3rd and 4th, and $15,000 for the 5th child onwards until 30 September 2027, then $5,000 for every child), and a $5,000 MediSave Grant for Newborns for babies born on or after 1 April 2025. From April 2027 the SG Child Support Package replaces Baby Bonus, with a $10,000 Baby Gift for babies born from 1 April 2027, $2,000 of Child Credits a year from age 1 to 16, and a $10,000 PSEA top-up at 17. Eligible working mothers can receive up to 16 weeks of Government-Paid Maternity Leave, and eligible fathers receive 4 weeks of Government-Paid Paternity Leave (made fully mandatory from 1 April 2025). In addition, from 1 April 2026 parents can share up to 10 weeks of Government-Paid Shared Parental Leave between them. The CDA is a special savings account for your child's development and healthcare-related expenses, such as childcare, kindergarten, and approved medical costs. It comes with a First Step Grant that you receive without needing to save first ($5,000 for the 1st and 2nd child, $10,000 for the 3rd and subsequent child born from 18 February 2025 to 31 March 2027, and $5,000 for every baby born from 1 April 2027). The Government also matches your own deposits dollar for dollar, up to a cap ($4,000 for the 1st child, $7,000 for the 2nd, $9,000 for the 3rd and 4th, and $15,000 for the 5th child onwards until 30 September 2027, then $5,000 for every child).
